Comparison

Cartis and the tools you use today.

You don't have to throw anything away. Below, what each of the tools found in a box factory does well, and where Cartis comes in.

By hand and spreadsheets

The spreadsheet can do sums.

Simple sums, years of habit, no licence to pay.
Everyone has their own, and knows it well.
Where Cartis comes in. You can't draw the layout or the cutting die in a cell; sooner or later somebody forgets the fixed job costs; there's no 3D to send the customer, and the yield worked out on the sheet is a rough guess. Together: the spreadsheet stays for whatever you need outside the box.
General-purpose CAD

CAD produces the drawing.

Free geometry, the special piece, precision of line.
Open formats everyone can read.
Where Cartis comes in. From three measurements it generates layout, cutting die, 3D with the real paper, yield, quote and production, and prepares the files for the designer and the die maker. Together: CAD for the special piece, Cartis for everyday production. DXF files pass from one to the other, checked for units and scale.
Company ERP

The ERP follows the order.

Master data, accounts, invoicing.
It's already there, and the accounts office knows it.
Where Cartis comes in. The ERP doesn't know the box: it doesn't calculate lips, yields and dies, it doesn't know how much margin is left at 200 pieces and it doesn't tell the shop floor what to do next. Together: Cartis handles the job from the box to delivery; the accounts stay where they are.
