Three measurements, and the drawing is done.

From the same three measurements come the paper and board layouts, the cutting die with dimensions and metres of rule, and the 3D with the real paper, all consistent with each other: change one measurement and they update together. Keep your CAD for the special piece. The everyday work is done by Cartis.

In one day

An ordinary day.

01

A new magnetic box

The base board and the shell board each have their own thickness; the lip is worked out by the program. Out come the paper and board layouts and the cutting die with cuts and creases. If needed, the double-flap and double-cover variants.

02

A DXF from the customer

As soon as you import it, Cartis checks units and scale. In the archive it was born from, 728 files out of 1,002 declared a unit different from the real one: a mistake that, without a check, you discover at the cutter.

03

A foam insert

The sheet with numbered cavities and the cutting grid, the nesting of the pieces, the cutting time calculated from the DXF with your plotter's speeds. At the end, the DXF for the machine.

The tools

What Cartis does in the technical office.

Paper and board layouts

For every piece, with lips, turn-ins and tolerances derived from the thickness and the paper.

Cutting die with dimensions, and the register

Cuts, creases, metres of cutting rule. Before you order a new one, the register tells you whether you already have one that will do.

DXF and SVG import

Shaped inserts and foam read from the drawing, checked for units and scale, brought into 3D.

Nesting and cutting time

The pieces laid out on the sheet; the machine time from the drawing; the sequence for the guillotine.

Artwork template for the design studio

Layered sheet at 1:1 with cut paths and safe area; board thickness declared.

Box-making notes

Style, step, material, machine and reference sample: the instructions stay with the job.

DXF, SVG, PDF export

Drawings go out in open formats: take them wherever you like.
